In just under one month’s time, Paddy and Rich will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money and awareness for Chasing the Stigma.
Paddy and Rich will set off up the mountain on 22 August — and it will take them six days to reach the summit. This will be a physically and mentally challenging event for the two men — but their commitment to raising money and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health is what will keep them going.
After both experiencing bouts of poor mental health, Paddy and Rich found themselves on the road to recovery after seeking support from mental health services, friends and family. However, they were aware that not everyone has access to such support networks, and they set out to help others who find themselves in a difficult situation.
They have paid for their own training, and gained the support of three main sponsors — Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks, Ricky Evans Motorsport and Harvest Green Developments — who have all contributed to the cost of the trip. This means that every penny of money raised can go towards us continuing our work through the Hub of Hope and Ambassador of Hope training programme.
We cannot thank these guys enough for their commitment to our vision of removing the stigma from mental health and providing help to people when they are in their darkest moment. Their invaluable fundraising will help to train more people than ever through the Ambassador of Hope programme, and help us constantly improve and innovate the services we have and hope to offer in the future.
