Fundraiser, Ryan Farmer, has publicly thanked Chasing the Stigma and the Hub of Hope for helping him access help for his anxiety problems.
Speaking on Radio City Talk’s Mental Health Monday podcast, Ryan described how Chasing the Stigma’s Hub of Hope helped him find help after the GP told him there would be a wait of months before he would be seen by a psychiatrist for his initial assessment.
Speaking to host, Mick Coyle, Ryan said “The Doctor referred me for an initial assessment with a psychiatrist, which he said I would have to wait a number of months for.
I’d never asked for help before, so when I left the appointment I couldn’t help but wonder what I was going to do while I waited months to be seen. That’s when I found the Hub of Hope. I just popped in my postcode and found different support groups that were local to the area – all of them new to me.
For me, the support I found through the Hub of Hope has given me the help I needed while I wait for the assessment.”
Ryan, who is going to be running the Wirral Half Marathon in aid of Chasing the Stigma went on to tell us, “Chasing the Stigma gives people hope – myself included.”
